Junction Magazine

This is a magazine design for The Art Insitute of California - San Diego where I acted as an art director, graphic designer, and illustrator for this issue. This particular issue of the magazine focused on how technology has changed our society. I chose to express this theme by merging traditional graphite and pen drawings with digitally made elements to express the juxtaposition of the digital and real worlds.

The design of the magazine is focused on what a notebook from the students at school would look like. I wanted to bring a very natural, disheveled feel to the layout, achieved through the use of layered paper textures. Another design goal of the magazine design was to show the creative aspect of the Art Institute. Students were encouraged to submit their doodles and have them added to different articles within the magazine. Each doodle added a unique personality to each spread and showed off the imaginative spirit of the students at the school.
