Opening Night: 45X45 Celebrating Creativity

The 45 x 45 show offers artists a chance to showcase their varied mediums and styles to the public while simultaneously supporting the growth of the VAC. We are thankful for the invaluable support of the Coastal Arts Guild, whose dedicated volunteers help us maintain accessible galleries for the public. Their monthly Tea & Talk events also serve as a platform to introduce visiting artists.

Highly anticipated second annual exhibit presented by Coastal Arts Guild and American Easel "45 x 45: Celebrating Creativity," showcasing forty-five captivating new works on wood panels. The exhibition currently graces the Upstairs Gallery at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) now to July 29th, 2023.

The opening reception of this exhibit, along with two others, happened on Friday, June 2nd. During the reception, visitors had the opportunity to vote for their favorite piece. An award ceremony unveiled the official judges' selected pieces. It was an evening of art appreciation, complemented by wine, light refreshments, and free admission.

There’s still time to be mesmerized by this exceptional show, which features fresh and diverse multidisciplinary artworks crafted by forty-five talented community artists. Each artist starts with a common canvas—a 10" x 10" wood panel—and takes it on an imaginative journey of their choosing. The exhibition promises an array of mediums, ranging from acrylics to mixed media, fabric collage, linoleum print, and beyond.

Beyond its visual allure, this exhibition has a beautiful purpose. It supports the development of the VAC by utilizing the artists' contributions. The artists purchased their base panels, and the funds raised will go towards vital building improvements. However, when a visitor purchases a completed panel from the exhibition, one hundred percent of the price will directly benefit the artist.

Exhibits at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) are open to the public free of charge. Most Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 12pm to 4pm, you can explore the captivating displays at 777 NW Beach Drive in Newport.
